About the Quran Atlas

This atlas maps the places that the Quran names or alludes to. Where scholars disagree about a location, the differing views are presented side by side without favouring one of them. Markers labelled "approximate" or "region" are not exact sites.

Verses and translations

Arabic text (Uthmani script) and translations are retrieved from the Quran.com API (Quran Foundation). Translations used: Turkish Translation(Diyanet) (TR), Saheeh International (EN), Sheikh Isa Garcia (ES). The rights to each translation belong to its publisher.

Quran Atlas

Places Mentioned in the Quran

In telling its stories, the Quran names many places or points to them in its verses: Mecca and the Kaaba, Mount Sinai where Moses was addressed, the lands of 'Ad and Thamud, battlefields such as Badr and Hunayn. This page lists every place in the atlas by category.

For each place we give its location and the related verses in Arabic with a translation, and for disputed sites the differing views of scholars and researchers, with sources.
